Easy Scarecrow Paper Craft for Kids

With the arrival of fall, it’s the perfect time to make some fun fall crafts, starting with this cute paper scarecrow craft!

Using our free template, you can easily create this charming scarecrow that’s perfect for decorating your home, classroom, or any fall or farm themed event.

This craft is suitable for kids of all ages and is a fantastic way to spend a crisp autumn afternoon.

Scarecrow Craft

Materials

• Scarecrow craft template (available for download below)
• Colored paper
• Popsicle/craft stick
• Yellow tissue paper (optional)
• Scissors
• Glue

Instructions

First, download and print out the free scarecrow craft template, which you can find at the bottom of this page.

Next, cut out all the pieces of the template.

Trace the template pieces onto colored paper and cut them out. You can use any color that you like, but the options that we chose were: tan for the face, brown for the hat, blue for the overalls and the sash on the hat, orange for the nose, yellow for the buttons, red for the shirt.

The fun thing about this craft is that you can choose whatever colors you want to make your own unique scarecrow!

If you want your shirt to be plaid, draw crisscrossed lines on it to give a plaid look.

Now it’s time to begin assembling your scarecrow!

First, glue the overalls over the shirt and glue the buttons to the bottom of the overall straps.

Now move on to the scarecrow’s head. Glue the band to the scarecrow’s hat.

Now glue the eyes and nose onto the scarecrow’s face and the hat on top of the scarecrow’s head.

Use a pen to draw a mouth on your scarecrow.

Now you’re ready to glue your scarecrow’s head onto the body.

Now to make the straw! Cut up yellow tissue paper into small pieces.

Lightly crinkle up the tissue paper and glue it so that it is sticking out from behind the sleeves of the shirt and the bottoms of the legs on the pants. You can also use torn yellow paper if you don’t have tissue paper.

At this point if you want to add a little character to your scarecrow, you can add some patches to the clothes. Just cut out small pieces of colored paper, glue them to the overalls, and add some stitch marks with a pen.

Now it’s time for the final touch! Glue or tape a popsicle craft stick to the back of the scarecrow so that it’s sticking out the bottom, giving the impression that your craft is on a pole just like a real scarecrow.

And now your cute scarecrow craft is complete!
