3D Tractor Craft for Kids- with printable

It seems like all kids are fascinated by tractors at one point or another. And now your child can make their own stand-up tractor with this 3D tractor craft for kids!

I knew I had to do a fun tractor craft when we were learning about farms. My boys love tractors, second probably only to garbage trucks. I swear, the louder the vehicle the better with little kids!

This tractor is super easy to make and kids will love the finished product! Just decorate the free printable, fold, and assemble your standing tractor.

This craft also goes great with our other farm activities, including preschool corn counting sheets.

Learning about tractors

While your preschooler is making their tractor craft, you can also take the opportunity to learn a little more about tractors! Here are a few questions we enjoyed discussing:

  • What do tractors do? (Tractors are machines used for farming. They can be used for activities such as pulling equipment and hauling people and materials.)
  • Why are the front wheels small and the back wheels big? (The back wheel provides better grip and traction while the front wheels allow for a tighter turning radius).
  • Why is there a pipe on top of the tractor? (A vertical exhaust pipe releases harmful gases away from the soil and plants where food is growing and away from the driver).

Materials:

  • Tractor 3D Printable (download below)
  • Cardstock paper
  • Colored pencils or markers
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

Start off by printing the tractor printable, available for download at the bottom of this post. Make sure to print it on cardstock paper or it will be difficult to stand the craft up when completed.

Next you’re going to color and decorate the printable. As you’re coloring, be sure to include the top, hood, and bumper areas as these will all be visible once you fold your tractor.

Color the tractor

Now it’s time to cut out the tractor. Cut around the outline of the tractor and along the dotted lines. At the base of the exhaust pipe be sure to only cut under the part of the exhaust pipe with the dotted lines.

Cut out the tractor

Fold along the solid lines. This includes the lines at the roof, bottom, hood, bumper, and in between the two sides of the exhaust pipe.

Fold the tractor

Finally, assemble the tractor by gluing the tabs on the bottom, hood, and bumper. Glue both sides of the exhaust pipe together to make one pipe.

And it’s that simple. Now you’re ready to enjoy your completed tractor craft for preschool!
