Materials

  • Sunflower craft template (available for download below)
  • Paper plate
  • Brown paint
  • Colored paper (yellow, green)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

First, download and print out the free sunflower craft template, which you can find at the bottom of this page.

Cut out a small piece of bubble wrap about the size of a child’s hand.

Now it’s time to make the sunflower seeds! Squeeze a small amount of brown paint onto your paper plate or palette and spread it into a thin layer. Take your bubble wrap and press it gently into the paint. Press the painted side of the bubble wrap onto the center of paper plate.

Continue using the bubble wrap to add more brown paint until the entire center of the paper plate is covered in “seeds”.

Leave the plate to dry.

Now you’ll make the petals of the flower. Cut out all the pieces of the template.

Take the petal template and trace it onto yellow paper to get the number of petals you want. We used ten petals on our flower.

Once you’ve traced them, cut out the flowers.

Take the stem and leaf template and trace them onto green paper and cut them out.

Grab that paper plate you painted earlier and cut out the ribbed outside of the plate, leaving the circle in the center.

Apply a small amount of glue to the back of the petals and begin attaching them to the back of the plate.

Continue until all the petals are on your flower.
