Owl Handprint Craft for Kids

Owl Handprint Craft

Materials

  • Owl craft template (available for download below)
  • Colored paper (brown, yellow, orange)
  • Brown marker
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions

Download and Print the Template
First, grab the free owl craft template from the bottom of this page and print it out.

Cut Out the Template Pieces
Next, carefully cut out all the pieces from the template.

Trace the Pieces

  • On orange paper, trace the beak and feet.
  • On yellow paper, trace the outer eye circles.
  • On tan paper, trace the stomach and the area around the eyes.
  • On brown paper, trace the owl’s body.

Add the Handprint Wings
Now, take the brown paper again and trace your child’s handprint twice to create the owl’s wings.

Cut Everything Out
Once you’ve traced all the pieces, go ahead and cut them out.

Assemble the Owl

  • Start by gluing the white eyes onto the yellow circles.
  • Then, glue the yellow circles onto the tan outer eye part.
  • Attach the eyes to the owl’s head.
  • Glue the beak just below the eyes.
  • Glue the stomach piece to the center of the owl’s body.
  • Finally, attach the feet at the bottom and the handprint wings on each side.

Add Final Details
To finish up, you can draw little “v” shapes on the owl’s stomach to give it some texture.

And that’s it—your adorable handprint owl is complete!

  2. Cut out all the pieces of the template.
  3. Trace the pieces of the template on colored paper. On orange paper, trace the beak and feet. On yellow paper, trace the outer eye circles. On tan paper, trace the stomach and the area around the eyes. On brown paper, trace the owl's body.
  4. Trace your child's hands onto brown paper twice to create the wings.
  5. Cut out all the traced pieces.
  6. Glue the white eyes onto the yellow circles. Then, glue the yellow circles onto the tan outer eye part. Attach the eyes to the owl's head.'
  7. Glue the beak just below the eyes.
  8. Glue the stomach piece to the center of the owl's body.
  9. Finally, attach the feet at the bottom and the handprint wings on each side.
  10. Draw little "v" shapes on the owl's stomach with a brown marker to give it some texture.
