Starfish Paper Plate Craft
Materials
- Starfish craft template (available for download below)
- Paper plate
- Colorful paint/paintbrush
- Glue
- Scissors
Instructions
First, download and print out the starfish craft template at the bottom of this page.
Next, paint your plate with a the base color you want for your starfish. Let it dry.
Cut out the starfish outline and eyes from the template.
Trace the starfish outline onto the painted paper plate and cut it out.
Take a piece of bubble wrap and cut out a small strip. We found that a width of two bubbles was the perfect size.
Now it’s time to make the suction cups! Pick a paint color that will stand out well against your base starfish color.
Cover your bubble wrap in a thin layer of the paint and press gently onto the starfish legs.
The best way we found to do this was to either put a thin layer of paint on a plate and dip it or use a paintbrush to cover the bubbles with paint. The trick is to not get too thick a layer of paint or you lose the definition of the bubbles.
Continue until each of the legs is covered in suction cups.
Let the paint dry.
Once the suction cups are dry, glue the eyes onto the starfish.
Use a pen to draw the mouth onto the starfish.
Now your adorable starfish is complete!
Crafting this paper plate starfish is a delightful way to dive into ocean-themed creativity with your kids.
I hope you and your little ones enjoyed this under-the-sea adventure as much as we did.
