Instructions

Let’s make some festive and colorful Easter bunnies!

First, download and print out the Easter bunny craft template. Scroll to the bottom of this page and enter your email address in the form and the template will be sent to you.

Take a sponge and cute a small square off of it (roughly 1″x1″).

Now it’s time for sponge painting!

Sponge Painting

Before you begin, decide what version of the craft you want to make.

The first option is to just sponge paint directly onto the printable template. To do this, first dip you sponge into the paint (you can choose to do one color or several, get creative!), then press it onto the bunnies on the template. Continue until all of the bunnies are covered in paint.

Let the craft dry and then cut out the bunnies. Use them as Easter decorations or on the Easter card template.

The other option is to make bunny outlines! (This is our favorite way to do it because you get two versions of the bunnies- one bunny covered in paint and one page with bunny outlines).

To do this, start by cutting out the bunnies from the template. Put a piece of tape on the back of each bunny (I like to make the side with the printed lines the back so that after their painted I can’t see the black lines) and stick them to a blank piece of paper.

Dip you sponge into the paint- choose one color or several colors!- and then press it onto the bunnies. Continue until the bunnies are covered in paint, focusing on the edges where the bunny meets the paper so that you get nice sharp outlines.

Let the paint dry, then carefully remove the bunnies from the paper.

Take a cotton ball and cut off a small piece to be the tail for each bunny. Glue a piece of cotton ball to each bunny.

Easter Card

To make the Easter card, first make your sponge painted bunnies.

Then take you card template and color in the outline parts with markers of colored pencils.

Cut out around the outside of the card- this will give you a 5″x7″ card- and fold the card in half.

Glue one or several of your bunnies to the front of the card.

Now you have a personalized card ready to gift someone for Easter!

This craft is such a blast to make and it’s so easy that it’s perfect for even the smallest of kids.
