Instructions
Let’s get a few things prepped before we dive into making this adorable Easter craft.
First, download and print out the Easter egg craft template, which you can find at the bottom of this page.
Take a sponge and cut off a small square (about 1″x1″) to use for your sponge stamping.
Now you can decide how you want to make the craft, as there are a couple of ways that you can go about it.
Sponge Painting
Paint directly on the template
The first is to stamp the paint directly onto the sheet of eggs from the template with the sponge. Just dip your sponge into the paint- you can use one color or several- and press it onto the eggs on the template.
Once they’ve dried, cut them out and use them for the card or as an Easter decoration.
This is a fast and easy way to complete this craft!
Make sponge paint outlines
Another option is to sponge paint egg outlines onto a separate piece of paper. We like to do this option, as it gives you both the individual eggs as well as a sheet of paper where just the egg outline has been stamped.
First, cut out the eggs from the template page.
Roll up pieces of tape and stick them to the back of the eggs, then tape them to a blank piece of paper. We like to make the side with the printed line the back of the egg so that you don’t see the line when it’s painted, but you can do it either way.

Next, press your sponge into your paint (it helps if the sponge is just slightly damp to start), and then press the sponge to the eggs on the page. You can use one color or several bright Easter colors. If you’re using more than one color, it might be a good idea to use multiple sponges so that the colors don’t blend too much and look muddy.

Continue until the eggs are covered in paint, making sure to focus on the place where the edge of the egg meets the page. This will ensure that you get a nice egg outline on the page.

Let the eggs dry, then carefully remove them from the page.

Now you’re left with some beautifully colored eggs and a page of egg outlines!
Use the eggs as Easter decorations around the house OR turn them into a lovely handmade card.
Easter Card
To make the card, first color the outlined letters on the card template using markers or colored pencils.

Next, cut the card out along the dotted lines and fold it in half.
Glue some of your sponge stamped eggs onto the front of your card.
Finally, write a heartfelt message within. Now your beautiful personalized card is ready for gifting!

This craft is seriously so much fun to make, kids will want to do it over and over again!
