Easter Basket Weaving Craft

Materials
- Easter basket template
- Colored paper
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions
First download and print out the Easter basket template, which you can find by scrolling to the bottom of this page.
Next, cut out two pieces of colored paper in half width-wise. You can pick any colors that you think will go well together for your basket. You can even pick standard brown, although if you use two different colors it is easier to see where you are weaving, especially for kids.

Now you’re going to cut one of the half pages into strips widthwise, leaving a section at the top that is uncut. Cut the other color into strips lengthwise, cutting all the way through so that you have separate strips.

Take one of your long strips and begin weaving it over and under the page of strips that are connected. With the next strip, weave it under and over, opposite of the first strip.

Continue weaving the strips until they fill the whole page.

Use a glue stick to glue the edges down.
Cut out the pieces of the template. Trace the basket onto your weave page, placing the flat top of the basket along the strip that was not cut.

Cut out the basket and glue the edges down to secure the basket weave.

Trace the basket rim onto one of the leftover halves of colored paper and cut it out.

Glue the rim to the top of the basket weave page.

Using the leftover half of colored paper, cut out an arched handle for your basket. Glue the handle to the back of your basket base.

Using the egg shape from the template, trace eggs onto colored paper and cut them out.

Glue the eggs onto the top of the basket from the back.

And now your Easter basket craft is finished! This is such a fun Easter activity as well as an opportunity for kids to learn or practice their weaving skills!
